Rig Manager

Who We Are Looking For

KCA Deutag has a potential opportunity for an experienced Rig Manager to join the North Sea Operations team based between our Group Headquarters in Portlethen and Client offices, on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Country Manager, the Rig Manager is responsible for the efficient and cost effective management and control of operations on the drilling installations under their authority and for the safety of all persons working onboard these installations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of rig specific performance contract to include Financial, Safety, Non-Productive Time and Worldwide Standards
  • Manage the operations assigned to them and ensure that they meet contractual, quality and performance criteria
  • Maintain close contact with end-clients on all operational and contractual matters
  • Provide advice and guidance to the Senior Offshore Rig Supervisors and onshore support tea
  • Ensure investigations are carried out on all accidents / incidents as required under the Group’s SMS
  • Take an active role in pre-spud and end-of-well meetings, ensuring that complete reporting is undertaken and that all learning points are brought to the attention of the Country Manager and the client
  • Conduct technical appraisals of drilling and work-over programmes, ensuring that any improvements, concerns or remedial actions required, are brought to the attention of the client
  • Manage the annual budget for their operations to meet the financial targets set by the Group
  • Ensure compliance with KCA Deutag SMS, in terms of accident and incident prevention

Key Skills & Experience

  • Candidates must have an extensive operational background
  • Experience in platform operations and integrated service delivery
  • Safety leader who sets high standards for their team and possesses a demonstrable commitment to safety

  • Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels within KCA Deutag and Client Groups
  • Ability to implement and control budgets
  • Highly focussed on performance delivery

Candidates should possess good management and leadership skills.  They should be an effective communicator both verbally and in their written work.  They should display enthusiasm and commitment and have the ability to motivate their team to work safely and efficiently without incident.  Candidates should also be efficient in the use of computer packages and should be proficient in report writing.
