Job Purpose

 Reporting to the HR Manager (Bad Bentheim), the Team-Leader HR is responsible for managing the day-to-day business of the HR department in the German office.

Process owner for the EUR-payroll (active employees and pensioners) within the KCA Deutag “German entities”.

Other responsibilities including managing the HR relationship with other departments/functions and ongoing processes and SAP systems development. Interface to SAP HR customizers, evaluating, defining and prioritize SAP customization requirements.

The role provides support to the business, delivering optimisation, efficiency, and risk mitigation in all aspects of the Human Resources Process.

HR team management and development. 

Continuous assurance that all process (e.g. payroll) adheres to external and internal rules and regulations.

 Providing coherent data basis for HR reporting and analysis  

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • The HR team leader is directly responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the payroll and human resources information prepared by the country HR team.
  • The role provides support to the business, delivering optimisation, efficiency, and risk mitigation in all aspects of the Human Resources Process.
  • HR team management and development. 
  • Continuous assurance that all process (e.g. payroll) adheres to external and internal rules and regulations.
  • Providing coherent data basis for HR reporting and analysis  
  • Advising the BB management functions in all aspects of personnel matters.
  • Strategic management of the payroll function, including ownership of technical improvements, and driving process improvements working with others inside and outside HR.
  • Management of EUR-payrolls: KCA Deutag GmbH, KCA Deutag Drilling GmbH and KCA Deutag Tiefbohrgesellschaft mbH;
  • Development of HR team members.
  • SAP payroll system development, ensure the payroll area is in line with internal standards and statutory rules and regulations.
  • Key business partner with the HR function for Corporate, Land and West Europe functions located in Germany. 
  • Provide assistance in labour law litigations (also related to USD-payroll of KCA Deutag Drilling GmbH);
  • Management of agency staff recruitment and associated contractual agreements.
  • Staff recruitment according to department specification.
  • Contact person for internal and external audits (e.g. wage tax audit, social security audit, state employers’ liability association.
  • Detailed understanding of end-to-end German payroll processing.
  • Testing of country specific “SAP-updates”    
  • In addition to leadership tasks, this role requires a high level of flexibility and personal resilience. 
  • In addition, comprehensive knowledge of legislation (e.g. tax lax, social security law, works constitution act) is required. 
  • The position has interfaces with the European Rig Workforce and Corporate, Europe and Land functions within the BB organisation and Dubai service centre (tax documents for GmbH/USD staff, settlement payments, etc.) 

 

Key Skills & Experience 

  • Proven experience in HR management and payroll accounting
  • General knowledge of employment laws and tax reciprocity rules and regulations 
  • Excellent computer skills in SAP and a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated coaching/mentoring skills and issue management problem solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a Business Discipline.
  • Training such as personnel officer (IHK) is advantageous.
