Purpose Of Job:

Structural Engineer is responsible for the conducting Structural inspections API RP4G, repairs and upgrades for all onshore and offshore structures. structural engineer will be focal point from Kenera side to deal with drilling contractor. Structural engineer will regularly perform the structural inspections as per API RP 4G and perform the repair (if any). The repair procedures and advice for the required resources to be advised accordingly by Structural engineer.

 

Key Tasks:

  • Perform design reviews, structural / welding failures analyses and adjust repair procedures and/or inspections programs accordingly.
  • Structural engineer must be familiar with Rig equipment built by reputable OEM’s including but not limited to (NOV, DRILLMEC, CAMERON, HH, Lee C Moore, MHWirth, etc.) also its essential that he demonstrates detailed understanding of various oil field International standards including but not limited to ABS, AISC, API and ASME.
  • Take charge of any specific projects as given by the Engineering Manager.
  • Field visits according to the job requirements and to review all rigs structural conditions and shortcoming. Review the Quotes, Generate the scope of work and advice Engineering Manager.
  • Rig upgrades, major repairs, refurbishment and shipyard or construction site projects preparation or review of work scopes,
  • Studies and follow up with manufacturers of new Drilling Systems / Equipment.
  • Review and Revision of existing and preparation of new Standards / Best Practices / Procedures for Rig Equipment & Systems in liaison with the Field Support Equipment & Maintenance & QHSE group,
  • Follow up and/or development of new concepts, systems that will improve QHSE and performance of our operations.
  • Maintaining a list of approved contractors in the field of work of the technical group, ensuring the availability of resources as they may be required, to provide an efficient support.
  • Responsible to maintain the records of Rig Inspections Cat III, Cat IV and all other repairs and modifications.
  • Responsible in the Rig Upgrade Projects (Offshore & Onshore).
  • Responsible to support the offshore operation to close ABS issue if any.
  • Be focal point for the Land Rigs Updates such as Structural Upgrade, Mud Systems Upgrade/Fabrications and he will support all other technical requirements as requested by client.
  • Responsible to involve in all type of fabrications such as Fabrication of Driller Shelter Fabrications, of the different Tanks, Engine Housing Basket Platforms, Low Pressure / High Pressure Piping and Utility Piping.
  • Responsible to review the design before proceeding with the Fabrications.
  • Responsible to do the basic structural calculations as requested and required.
  • Responsible to deal with external resources (sub-contractors like machine and fabrication workshops sand blasting and painting contractors, equipment manufacturers.
  • Responsible to work on a project away from the head office and will be roving between rigs during hitch. He can be assigned on different project outside Saudi Arabia as well.
  • Lead and develop the output of engineering drawing to improve supplier capability.
  • Responsible for proactively conduct as much work as possible while in-field “without disturbing rig normal operations” to save time and money.
  • Responsible for managing rig site visits for vendors to survey the rig and prepare accurate (SOW) and accurate cost and schedules.

  • Contribute to cost-efficient usage of all applicable resources to reduce unnecessary expense.
  • Implements the company Management Policies and Procedures within the country.

 

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience, in field services in the same discipline.
  • Conversant with Company Standards, Industry & Class Standards & Practices, including but not limited to API, ASME, ABS, IMO, and SOLAS.
  • Computer literate with experience and in the following software: Microsoft (MS) office, Adobe Acrobat, MS Project skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in English.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent field experience.
  • Preferable Structural inspection certification from API 4F licensed company.
  • Preferable AWS-CWI or Equivalent – Certified Welding Inspector.
  • CIP (Coating Inspector Program).
