Key details about the role and the candidate

To assist with the day-to-day health, safety and environmental duties for their assigned installation, in close liaison with the KCA Deutag Drilling (KCADD) senior installation personnel. To coach and mentor personnel on appropriate processes and procedures to ensure compliance with KCADD’s HSEQ Management System.

You and the role

The successful candidate will be required to plan and organise own workload in conjunction with the workload of the Rig Superintendent, plan and coordinate informal crew mentoring and coaching sessions, and build good working relationships with the Rig Manager, HSE department and the client onboard.  Attend daily ‘morning call’, pre-shift meeting, toolbox talks and any safety meetings.

Primary responsibilities

  • Monitor adherence and advise personnel to ensure safe and efficient compliance with all regulatory, client, industry and KCAD HSEQ Management System requirements through active participation in the following audits and inspections:
    • Task Based Inspections of drilling and associated operations;
    • Area Inspections throughout the drilling package;
    • ISSOW Permit to Work Audits;
    • KCA Deutag World Wide Standards, in line with set audit schedule.
  •  Assist Rig Superintendent with the completion of platform induction and familiarisation tours for incoming personnel, including third parties, new to the platform and drilling package to ensure awareness of the site arrangements.
  •  Assist the Rig Superintendent to ensure that all HSE incidents are properly reported, investigated and actioned in line with KCADD incident reporting procedures to ensure compliance with KCADD HSEQ Management System.
  •  Assist the Rig Superintendent in the planning and conducting of safety meetings by taking a lead role and providing input into policies, procedures, updates, assessments, presentation material and provide administrative support to ensure continual improvement.
  •  Assist with creating, reviewing and updating suitable and sufficient risk assessments to cover drilling operations, involving drilling personnel.  Assist with creating, reviewing and updating work guidelines in preparation for and as operations dictate to ensure safe operations.
  •  Liaise with onshore HSE support in the proposal and implementation of any health, safety and environmental improvement initiatives and projects in line with the annual UK HSEQ Plan.  Liaise with UK Training Department, to ensure that all training and competency records are kept up to date, and where qualified to do so, assist with any safety related training, as required.
  •  Maintain and produce health, safety and environmental statistics and records for reporting purposes. Maintain a current     record of all HSEQ registers and documentation at all times (Incidents, HAVS Tracking Forms, Audit Reports, Weekly      Inspections, Action Registers, Training etc) in order to comply with KCAD HSEQ Management System and regulatory requirements.

Experience

  • Internal candidates
    • prior relevant experience as a Floorhand / Roustabout Pusher or above
    • Prior relevant experience as an Offshore Safety Representative
    • Proactive safety performance and commitment measured through performance appraisals.
  • External candidates   
    • prior experience in an offshore discipline or Safety Coach role from an offshore drilling unit.

Behaviour and Skills

  • Ability to influence and change behaviour in relation to health, safety and environment to help ensure a proactive safety culture at all times.
  • Efficient in the use of Microsoft Office package

 Minimum qualifications

 Advantageous Qualification:

  • Recognised formal safety qualification (i.e. NEBOSH), Incident Investigation (TOP-SET / TapRooT).
