Key details about the role and the candidate

Reporting to the designated Operations position and the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for organisational and technical support of maintenance function and personnel to ensure continued operability of equipment on the rigs and base team

You and the role

All equipment and systems installed on the Rig, compliance with Class and Company requirements for repairs and upkeep or all associated records. In line with collective and legal requirements as well as KCA DEUTAG's Strategies, Policy Statements and Procedures.

Organisational and technical support of maintenance function and personnel.

Responsible for the maintenance of all equipment.

Primary responsibilities 

  • Provides support for special duties within the department and organisation as assigned by Manager
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained and repaired promptly.
  • Ensure that all equipment under their control complies with statutory requirements and is always maintained in a safe condition or is otherwise completely withdrawn from service, including tools and instruments in their care.
  • Plan maintenance and repair tasks to minimize the effect on the drilling operation.
  • Ensure that an adequate supply of spare parts is maintained on the installation and is stored in environmentally sound conditions.
  • Check materials offloaded and complete manifests and requisitions for mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Carry out and record the maintenance tasks specified by the computerized maintenance system.
  • Ensure that the entire Group’s reporting system data sheets are completed E.g. Maintenance/Repair/Replacement job cards.
  • Carry out tasks as part of a multi-discipline maintenance team as operational requirements dictate.
  • Recommend and when required embody modifications to equipment or systems to enhance safety, improve rig performance or comply with statutory notices.
  • Monitor any rig equipment supplied by other contractors or sub-contractors to ensure that it is suitable for use within the areas desired.
  • Stand-in for alternative work discipline as required.
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance programme in accordance with Group repair and preventative maintenance procedures as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Update or modify any drawings, sketches or information on existing and replacement equipment as required or provide such information to management.
  • Provide information to shore based engineering personnel as may be required for the smooth operation of Group maintenance objectives.
  • Liaise with other Maintenance Supervisors in the field.
  • Liaise regularly with shore-based maintenance personnel.
  • Complete any other reasonable tasks as delegated by Line Supervisor.
  • Ensure that all Third-Party personnel including Service Engineers comply with Group and Installation Safety Procedures.
  • Accompany representatives of certifying authorities on inspections or the installation as required.

Experience

  • Proven experience in a similar position within oil & gas industry.

Behaviour and Skills

  • Proficient spoken English (additional languages beneficial)
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with SAP PM modules
  • Solid understanding of hazardous environments
  • Analytical with the ability to assess situations accurately and identify variances
  • Self-motivated and able to organise tasks to meet deadlines
  • Assertive in achieving goals within a set timeframe
  • Determined to make informed decisions independently
