Key details about the role and the candidate

The Superintendent (Mechanic) is responsible for the maintenance of all equipment as well as the associated upkeep of the records and repair history and compliance with company policies.  They are responsible for the health and safety of all persons under their authority.

You and the role

All equipment and systems installed on the Rig, compliance with Class and Company requirements for repairs and upkeep or all associated records. In line with collective and legal requirements as well as KCA DEUTAG's Strategies, Policy Statements and Procedures.

Responsible for the maintenance of all equipment

Primary responsibilities 

  • Provides support for special duties within the department and organisation as assigned by Manager
  • Carry out activities promoting teamwork, motivating personnel, usage of the technical and personnel resources aimed on the achievement of the KCA DEUTAG Objectives.
  • Ensure that Maintenance Supervisors plan maintenance and repair tasks properly to minimize the effect on the drilling operation.
  • Support to SCM Department in accordance with all technical international and strategical purchasing.
  • Responsible for compiling of reports in accordance with all the internal, external and KOMS requirements
  • Participate in troubleshooting issues on rig-site and from Office (as required).
  • Support in accordance with the Mechanic l Maintenance Supervisor that all equipment under their control complies with statutory requirements and is always maintained in a safe condition or is otherwise completely withdrawn from service, including tools and instruments in their care.
  • Ensure that all Mechanic Supervisor’s under their authority have sufficient information and knowledge to carry out their job without endangering any persons, plant or equipment and are adequately trained and experienced for a particular task before they are instructed to carry it out.
  • Obtain the necessary safety clearance for the nature/type of work to be carried out, in advance, in consultation with the HSE Adviser and in accordance with safety procedures (i.e. WORK PERMIT) 

Experience

  • Proven experience in a similar field within oil & gas industry.

Behaviour and Skills

  • Proficient spoken English (additional languages beneficial)
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with SAP PM modules
  • Solid understanding of hazardous environments
  • Analytical with the ability to assess situations accurately and identify variances
  • Self-motivated and able to organise tasks to meet deadlines
  • Assertive in achieving goals within a set timeframe
  • Determined to make informed decisions independently
