Key details about the role and the candidate

Demonstrates a high level of competence, research ability, technical knowledge and experience as expected of a Senior Discipline Engineer.  Creation and development of engineering solutions for allocated jobs/projects.

 

You and the role

Time-served Electrical Engineer familiar with the design, equipment and production of deliverables typically associated with offshore drilling facilities.

 

Primary responsibilities 

Safety

  • Use of safe approach in design and working practices, following the objectives of the Office and project specific Health, Safety and Environmental Plans.  Encouragement of attention to safety in personnel allocated to own area of responsibility.  

Financial

  • Awareness and understanding of the business drivers within the Bentec / Client relationship and how these can be influenced by innovative designs and fit-for-purpose solutions.

Business Development

  • Development of good working relationship with Client and site personnel.
  • Use of opportunities at meetings with Clients, Vendors etc. to learn of additional work which Bentec could undertake and to promote Bentec’s capabilities.
  • During surveys and site visits, communication with Operations and Maintenance personnel to determine any opportunities where Bentec could provide an engineering solution to existing problems or for improving the existing practice.

Departmental Development

  • Liaison with the Lead Discipline Engineer to identify areas for development and to implement improvements in working practices

Systems and Processes

  • Provision of information as required by Bentec Systems.

People

  • Assistance with development of Graduate Discipline Engineers and Trainee Discipline Designers.

Quality

  • Adherence to the Bentec BMS.
  • Keeping up to date with technical developments, client national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the role.

Planning & Organising

  • Direct functional responsibility for technical integrity of engineering within own area of responsibility delivering to schedule and budget.
  • Allocated tasks and responsibility within a project by the Lead Discipline Engineer. 

Experience

  • Proven experience in discipline engineering role with an Oilfield Operator, Drilling Contractor or Service Company.

Behaviour and Skills

  • Demonstrate competence in discipline engineering.
  • Must be well organised, proactive and a good communicator
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to tailor their approach to deal appropriately with all levels of contact.
  • An assertive and self-confident person
  • Team player who demonstrates maximum flexibility and remain calm under pressure
  • Deadline conscious with strong drive and initiative and ability to work well in time sensitive situations 
  • Understanding of the Oil & Gas sector marketplace, market forces 
  • Must speak and write fluent English.

Minimum qualifications 

  • Professional qualifications and member of discipline professional institution are preferred
