Key details about the role and the candidate

The Chief Electrician is responsible to the Tool Pusher and Maintenance Team Leader for the maintenance of all electrical equipment within H&P scope/area of responsibility and for the health and safety of all persons under their authority.

Management of the drilling rig according to company guidelines to ensure optimal execution of the drilling program while adhering to company & task descriptions, the legal regulations and guidelines as well as consideration of economic aspects & the Saudi H&P QA & HSE standards.

Primary responsibilities 

• Liaising with Tool Pusher and Field Electrical Supervisor regarding equipment repairs, maintenance and planning to minimize the risk of delay through equipment breakdown or downtime.
• Implementing the planned maintenance system as instructed by the Field Electrical Supervisor.
• Carrying out electrical isolations for general maintenance/repair purposes.
• Immediately rectifying or reporting to the Tool Pusher and Field Electrical Supervisor any defects or discrepancies in electrical equipment.
• Maintaining a daily electrical log and completing the relevant planned maintenance job cards.
• Ordering electrical maintenance/breakdown spares and checking present stock levels.
• Maintain a preventive maintenance programme in accordance with Company repair and preventative maintenance procedures as directed by immediate supervisor.
• Supervise tasks in accordance with good engineering practice and company policy.
• Monitor any electrical equipment supplied by other contractors or sub-contractors to ensure that it is suitable for uses within the areas desired.
• Ensure that all equipment under their control complies with statutory requirements and is always maintained in a safe condition or is otherwise completely withdrawn from service.
• Plan maintenance and repairs to minimise that effect on the drilling operation and to carry out the maintenance tasks specified by the computerised maintenance system.
• Report on parts, tools and supplies needed to maintain the equipment for which they are responsible.
• Recommend and when required embody modifications to equipment or systems to enhance safety, improve rig performance or comply with statutory notices.
• Carry out tasks as part of multi discipline maintenance team as operational requirements dictate.
• Ensure that all the Company’s reporting system data sheets are completed e.g. Maintenance, Repair etc.

Experience

• Proven experience as Chief Rig Electrician
• Technical skills Work on EX Protected Hazardous Area and Equipment / EXHAZ-E. 
• VFD / SCR MCC control.

• Excellent oral and written skills, comfortable presenting formally and informally to groups of people.
• Must adhere to H&P Group QA & HSE policies and procedures
• SAP & Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook)

Minimum qualifications – essential

• Diploma / Degree /Technical Skills / NVQ / Vocational / other electrician courses Experience
