You and the role

As a Senior Network Services Engineer, you are responsible for the design, implementation, and management of secure, scalable, and high-performance enterprise network infrastructure. You play a critical role in driving the adoption of modern networking technologies including SD-WAN and SASE, ensuring seamless connectivity and robust security across hybrid environments. With deep expertise in Cisco and Palo Alto Networks, you deliver resilient, secure, and future-ready network services while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating closely with the security team to align network operations with organizational security goals.

Primary responsibilities

Network Architecture & Operations

  • Design, deploy, and manage enterprise network infrastructure using Cisco technologies (Catalyst, Nexus, Webex).
  • Implement and optimize SD-WAN solutions to support distributed and cloud-connected environments.
  • Administer Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama for advanced threat prevention, segmentation, and secure remote access (GlobalProtect).
  • Configure and support routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), VLANs, NAT, and high-availability network designs.
  • Monitor network performance and availability using tools such as Cisco Catalyst Centre, SolarWinds, and NetFlow.

Security & SASE Integration

  • Lead the integration of SASE architecture to unify networking and security services, including firewall-as-a-service, secure web gateways, CASB, and ZTNA.
  • Collaborate proactively with the security team to implement zero-trust policies, threat mitigation strategies, and secure access controls.
  • Ensure compliance with internal security policies and external regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, NIST).

Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers, supporting their development through knowledge sharing, training, and guidance.
  • Partner with infrastructure, cloud, application, and security teams to deliver integrated, secure, and scalable solutions.
  • Contribute to network transformation projects including cloud migration, data center upgrades, and secure remote access initiatives.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration records, and operational procedures.
  • Deliver performance, availability, and security reports to senior stakeholders, highlighting risks and improvement opportunities.

Experience

  • Proven experience in enterprise networking and network security.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco (routing, switching, voice) and Palo Alto Networks (firewalls, Panorama, Prisma).
  • Proven expertise in SD-WAN technologies and SASE frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, ACLs, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

Behaviour and Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, documentation, and mentoring skills.

Minimum qualifications – essential

  • Certifications such as CCNP, PCNSE, Cisco Security, or SASE-related credentials are highly desirable.
